If it's something you might want to use every day, you might want to consider the plastic electric version. I haven't used it, and it's a bit more expensive, but the glass version seems pretty delicate.

I would say that the flavor is a little more complex and even, but otherwise on par with a good presspot, with a finer sediment.

What would you put it on par with - a great cup of home coffee or does it approach a good cup of Pete's or Starbucks?

I have one of these. The coffee is certainly good, but it's a bit labor intensive (both to make and to clean). I tend to bring it out for company - it makes a nice presentation.
