Vacu Vin Pineapple Slicer
Along with mangoes, pineapples are one of my favorite fruits. I love the tropical fruit, what can I say? I should live on a tropical island, sigh . . . Anyhoo, cutting pineapples is even more of a pain than cutting mangoes. This little device purports to make it easy. It cores and slices in one action, working like a corkscrew.

I use one of these weekly here in Costa Rica. Light pressure gives thinner slices, heavier pressure results in thicker ones. Very popular with those who see it, and sadly not available in the stores here. Sooooo much easier than peeling and coring with knifes or whatever. I have the plastic one and it works fine, but will be on the lookout for the stainless steel version. A simple tool that really does make it easy to enjoy a fresh juicy pineapple.
I have one of these. It takes a fair mount of hand strength and practice to get it to work well, but it does work. Also, it generates quite a bit of juice. I place the pinapple on an oval serving platter when I use the tool, so I can immediately set down the cored pinapple and the juice doesn't go all over the kitchen counter.
