Review: Adagio Teas triniTea Electric 32-Ounce Tea Maker

trinitea_review.jpg

Being new to the Gourmet Tea scene I was excited to finally get my hands on one of these products - especially the triniTea electric tea maker. Since I enjoy brewed ice tea year round I was wondering how much better this experience would be. The result totally surpassed my expectation of how good gourmet tea can be - especially loose leaf teas brewed with an electric tea maker.

For the most part the setup and assembly of the Adagio Teas triniTea Electric 32-Ounce Tea Maker is pretty simple. That is if you know how to assemble it. I was a little put off on how little information came with the product on how to assemble and operate it. There is literally one little pamphlet that comes with it and although it explains how to use it, it fails to associate a functional picture to support their explanation. But a few educated guesses later you will be off to making incredible tea!

Note: On the box it there is a diagram that might help you match up the layout to the instructions printed on the pamphlet. In addition to that there is another picture that vaguely shows the 3 steps on how to make tea with this product. If only they told you to refer to the box on the pamphlet...too bad I threw it away.

Assembling the TriniTea Electric Tea Maker

Setup.jpg

I put all the pieces together. Get the 4 cups of water in the Heating chamber. And place my Adagio Chai Tea in the Infuser Basket. Once everything is setup it's time to flip the on switch. An led comes on showing it is indeed powered up.

I notice I forgot to put the lid on the Carafe so I take it out and put the lid on and place it back on the lower hot plate. I wait and notice nothing happening. I put my ear to the Heating Chamber hoping to hear little bubbles taking off as it boils...but nothing. I fumble with the Carafe and the Infuser Basket thinking that maybe they are not aligned correctly but nothing... I turn off the unit and turn it back on. Once again I put my head to the Heating Chamber but nothing. Hmmm..I wait 5 minutes and put my head there again and alas I hear activity. A minute later a beep goes off and my hot water gently fills the Infuser basket (such a cool thing to watch). The water quickly goes from clear to a golden Brown in seconds. Five minutes later another beep and with that the water goes from the middle Infuser Basket to the Carafe that anxiously awaits it followed by 3 quick beeps.

Stage 1 - all assembled - tea in infuser.

Alas the moment of truth. I quickly pour a cup and impatiently blow on it to cool it down. I take my first sip...absolute bliss! In fact I burn my tongue over and over just so that I could taste more of it. The tea seemed perfectly brewed at the perfect temperature and time. Anymore or less would not do this gourmet tea mix justice.

Cleanup after Tea

Cleanup and disassembly is a cinch. Although I wonder how I am going to clean the Heating chamber.

In the end I found the Adagio Teas triniTea Electric 32-Ounce Tea Maker to do what it is supposed to do. Brew good tea with little or no effort.

I will say that the Adagio Teas triniTea Electric 32-Ounce Tea Maker could be a little more user friendly. To start there is a need for clearer instructions. This would have prevented me from making guesses and would have made my first experience more enjoyable.

were all very good loose leaf teas.

Pros and Cons and Wrapping Up

The User Feedback could have been better. There are really only 3 buttons and a light. Although this might seem simple this doesn't allow for much feedback to the user. Once you turn the Adagio Teas triniTea Electric 32-Ounce Tea Maker on if you touch anything it will turn off and just sit there. But from the view of the user the light is on so it must be brewing. Sadly you need to power it off and on again to start the process going again. I am not sure why it doesn't automatically restart the process after moving a carafe or Infuser Pot. The fact that there are no LED's at each stage of the process really doesn't help the user understand if the unit is on and where it is in the process. Therefore it can be confusing and might lead one to think they have a faulty product.

Once you understand the Adagio Teas triniTea Electric 32-Ounce Tea Maker however you forget about all that and really appreciate its ability to brew amazing tea. I highly recommend it and look forward to exploring this new found world of gourmet tea. I find myself showing the TriniTea off to family and friends just because it's fun to watch and fun to show them how good tea can be.
