iBox Fridge Pet

iboxfridge.jpgGive your child the gift of a small kitchen in their bedroom and make it look like a dog. POOF! Done.

"My sister always makes fun of me for anthropomorphizing inanimate objects but Fujitronic Manufacturing clearly understands how to grab people like me. Their I-Box refrigerator for children is a working fridge but it's shaped like a dog or polar bear and rather confusingly, includes a different virtual pet (panda, tiger, penguin, or dog) in the on-door LCD."

Get Crackin'!

Crab meat crackin' can be tough. Wisecracker looks like it may solve the problem.

The International Home & Housewares Show hit Chicago’s McCormick Place last week (admittedly not as cool as Carol's trip to the gaming convention in San Francisco, but I digress). After trekking miles through the three buildings (without a Sherpa, I might add) filled with things for your kitchen, bathroom, garden, backyard, pets and more, I found a handful or so great gadgets that really made me take a step back and say wow (hidden among a bunch of things that, frankly, were pretty ordinary and common)."

Sharp Healsio Steam Oven Coming to US

We've been following this little number for awhile but had no idea it would also cost $1799. Ummm...what??? Well - it is very cool and hopefully there will be a cheaper version if they ever catch on.

"The Sharp Healsio oven introduces a new way of cooking that uses steam superheated at 300 degrees Celsius. Amazingly, this melts away not only the fat but also reduces the salt content, while preserving essential nutrients. And don't think it'll reduce everything to a soggy mess, either. At the recent press launch in Singapore, it wowed the audience by toasting bread. This oven steams, grills, roasts, bakes, defrosts and reheats. Here are some of the things it can make (click on the recipe PDFs if you read Japanese)."

Cuisinart TOB-165, 175, 175BC Convection Toaster Oven/Broiler Review from Kitchen Contraptions.com

I can't say enough good things about this toaster oven. The controls are a breeze - the toast it makes is amazing. You can put the rack at three different levels and it does a hell of a good job making a bagel.

The first thing I did when it arrived? Well - I roasted a 4.5lb chicken in it and it only took and hour! The chicken came out amazing. Just amazing. I love this thing. I can't wait for the summer when I don't fire up the giant oven and can use this instead for those baking jobs.

Also - it just looks great. We've got a mostly black granite/maple kitchen with white walls and stainless everything. The toaster looks and IS very professional.

I will keep posting nuggets of information as we find out more the toaster can do and how it performs over the next 6 months. Nice work Cuisinart!

Update: It appears this model can be found under 165 - for a white oven, and 175 for black and 175BC for brushed chrome.

Kraft Foods Debuts Tassimo Hot Beverage System in the U.S

tassimo_us.jpgLooks like Tassimo is coming to the US!!! I will start today to see if we can drum up a Tassimo and some T-Discs for a review! VERY EXCITING!

"Kraft Foods Inc. (NYSE:KFT), a global leader in branded foods and beverages, today announced plans to launch its proprietary Tassimo Hot Beverage System this fall, in the United States. The new brewing system, which will make its U.S. debut at the International Home and Housewares Show in Chicago this weekend, redefines the "on-demand" coffee category by providing a menu of delicious, coffeehouse quality beverages that can be made at home in less than one minute. Kraft has already successfully launched the new brand in France, followed by more recent introductions in the United Kingdom and Switzerland, making this an innovative growth opportunity with great global potential."

Cuisinart Convection Oven Toaster

I'm buying this toaster oven. I'm not even going to tell my wife. I need a toaster oven that I love and cherish - not that old horrible black & decker - run the damn bagel through twice and burn it oven. I just can't use that thing again. Wish me luck. Review coming after I receive it, open it, use it, and explain to my wife why I needed it so.

"Compact and loaded with electronic controls, this 0.5-cubic-foot countertop convection toaster oven/broiler has room to toast four slices, roast a 4-1/2-pound chicken, bake a 9-inch pie, or broil several steaks. Because it circulates hot air, the 1500-watt oven cooks faster and more uniformly...

Boker White Ceramic Kitchen KnivesCeramic Kitchen Knives

I've never owned a ceramic knife but I'm pretty sure I need one. I guess you don't even sharpen the knife. Has anyone used one of these.

"Boker White Ceramic Kitchen Knives hold their cutting edge far longer than any other knife. Only diamonds are harder than ceramic, and this hardness guarantees smooth, clean cuts. "When you've got a Boker ceramic knife in your hand, cooking is never dull."

Fish Bowl for the Kitchen

"Feeling guilty for keeping your goldfish in a little tiny bowl? The Goldfish Racetrack has an "infinity shape" so your goldfish (said to have a memory of 7 seconds) will think they are exploring the seven seas. I'm not sure if it's humane or extra super cruel, tricking your fishies like this. I keep thinking of the fishbowl neurotics of Finding Nemo.
