Pyrex Digital Probe Oven Thermometer/ Timer

B00004Rc4R.01. Sclzzzzzzz We've been looking into all things temperature probe as we move into high BBQ season. I'm a big fan of the Thermapen, but there's never a deal on Thermapens and that makes Hulk angry. We've been getting a ton of requests for this number from Pyrex - it's not like the Thermapen but more of a digital oven thermometer. However, in the past we've used such a number in exactly the same way. The Pyrex Digital Probe is oven safe, has a stainless steal probe, and sounds a hair raising alarm when the food temperature is reached. If you get it dirty, the probe is hand washable with hot soapy water.

Kershaw Color Fish Knife

B000288Kd4.01. Sclzzzzzzz We got some earlier pictures of these Kershaw knives and were impressed. It just makes sense to have a knife for fish, or vegetables, or meat that is specialized and used for just that. It makes even more sense to have a knife that looks this beautiful. Specifically, the detail on the handle is just stunning. It looks just like a fish bone print.

LG Remote Monitoring Laundry System

4193323788821866.Jpg Being able to continue cooking and know what's up with my laundry? It must be electronic magic!!! LG Electronics has created a Remote Laundry System that we wish they would apply to any oven or range in the kitchen. It allows you to monitor the laundry cycles anywhere in your home and works over Power Line Communication Technology. I'll be monitoring LG to see if they come out with this for some kitchen stuff and integrate it into 1 remote. Soon, I won't even have to leave the kitchen.

Be Open Beer & Soda Bottle Opener

We covered the something like the Be Open bottle opener not too long ago but didn't realize you could get something like it in stainless steel. Now apparently this thing sort of works but we've yet to try one so we aren't passing judgement just yet. My mom apparently has one and swears by it. We will be traveling up to my town of origin over the 4th of July and I'm sure I'll get to try this out at a picnic or two.

DeCapa Fridge Magnet Bottle Opener

Fridge-1 As Summer heats up here in Boston, we've been in search of the ultimate bottle opener. We used to have this old style coke thing that hung near the back kitchen door at our old condo. This was mostly due to the fact that our Stainless Steel fridge didn't actually like magnets. I've seen this problem over and over - some stainless steel fridges magnets will stick to and other's won't. Our new fridge does work with magnets so, Maya and I are seriously thinking about getting this over the old coke style screw-it-in-your wall and ruin the door jam kinda bottle opener.

The DeCapa opener flips the cap off a beer or soda bottle or the supposed twist open bottle cap too. Thanks to magnets on the back, the opener doesn’t budge a millimeter even during one-handed use. Another great feature: after opening, the cap remains magnetized to the opener and doesn’t fall to the floor. Nice!

SiliconeZone Red Wildflower Pan

B00080Qbxc.01. Sclzzzzzzz We went yesterday to a set of outlet stores in Western Massachusetts to escape the heat. Well - outlet stores aren't great to escape the heat but they are great to find new cool kitchen stuff. It seems that Silicone baking molds are getting better and better. We saw no less than dozens of cool patterns from trees, to stars, to Disney characters you could make. SiliconZone has been making professional baking molds in this style for the past few years. Each mold can withstand just about any amount of heat you could throw at it up to 675 degrees F. We don't recommend trying to get your home oven up that high, but you needn't worry about melting the mold onto your cake. We found this really cool wildflower pattern and this is just a taste of the world of Silicone baking molds. We'll be featuring many more this week.

The Week in Review - News Around the Blogpire

Another Summer week passes and tons of cool articles around the Blogpire. Single Serve Coffee.com focused on reviews about Green Mountain K-Cups, Arabica Express Melitta One:One Pods, and a way to win a Keurig B50. Kitchen Contraptions.com was crazy about Egg Cookers, Rainbow Toasters, and of course more Soho Spice Racks. If you like Tennis, What's All the Racquet.com talked a bunch about racquet technology (what else do those guys do?), and Shaving Stuff.com covered a diamond encrusted razor made for David Beckham. Just The Chips.com covered the World Series of Poker and some cool new chips. TV Snob.com continued it's series on how HDTV is totally confusing and how the VCR is dead.
