Viatek Ionic Air Freshening CFL Light Bulb - Be Green and Clean in the Kitchen
Want your kitchen to smell a little fresher, and help stop global warming? The Ionic Compact Fluorescent Light bulb uses just 15 watts while producing 60 watts of light, and the ionizer inside the bulb helps to keep air fresh. The Ionic Bulb purifies the air by generating negative ions that attach to and eliminate hundreds of air contaminants (positively charged ions). One of our readers Lana has written in with a very interesting kitchen contraption - okay so not totally kitchen gadget related, but it is indeed a blast. Much like Easy Cheese except more organic and less cheesy, the Batter Blaster™ makes organic light and fluffy pancakes and light and crisp waffles in minutes. How does it do it? How about a pressurized can with a ton of pancake or waffle batter in it. Batter Blaster is fast, easy and fun for the whole family, plus it looks like a lot less mess for those sleepy Sunday morning pancake festivals in our kitchen.
AeroGrow Expands Product Line - $99 Aerogarden Available
Aerogrow is expanding and growing it's line of Aerogardens. There are going to be more models and some of them starting at just $99. We like the price point, and we love this kitchen contraption.
"The $99 AeroGarden 3 targets an entirely new category with an increased focus on flowers and home décor," said Michael Bissonnette, Founder and Chairman of AeroGrow. "For the first time, anyone can grow a beautiful, blooming flower garden right inside their home or office, any time of year. That's an important step for us, and takes us out of the kitchen to other rooms in the home, and into offices and cubicles as well. There are well over 40 million offices and cubicles in the U.S., and the ability to have a blooming garden that brightens, beautifies and brings life to that space is an overwhelming consumer benefit. As a result, we're seeing strong initial interest from both consumers and retailers, across a wide range of channels."
Also launching with the new gardens are more than 40 new herb, vegetable and flower seed kits and multiple accessory products.
Check out our earlier article on the Aerogarden and most of the models are available here.
This stove shaped timer is five timers in one. I don't think I ever have five things going at once, but if you are often making big meals, it might be handy. It is made from plastic and comes in several colors.
We've just received a sampling of home and kitchen organization products from IKEA. We often venture to IKEA, but often miss the home goods area as we speed through with our 2 kids who are about to meltdown. Next time we think we'll spend a trip to the home goods area instead of venturing into the upper area of furniture after seeing many of the home and kitchen organizing products IKEA offers.
One product we received which has made the transition from Winter to Spring a bit easier is the resealable heavy duty plastic bags. We'll be using them to store some clothes for next year, and another is the DISTANS food savers. You can stack these little wonders, and put in the food our kids didn't eat the night before for a lunch the next day. We also like the cutlery tray, our older tray was made of white metal and was not as easy to clean and wash out as this one.
The IKEA 365+ food savers are already in use as well. We have been storing O's and other cereals in them for a week, and we've had much less mess on the floor and counters from using them.
Thanks to IKEA for sending. We're feeling a bit more organized already.
We are forever making zucchini slices to put into a pasta, cous cous, or other yummy salad. The problem we always have - making nice consistent slices and not chopping off our hand while doing so. The OXO Good Grips Hand-Held Mandoline Slicer makes this task really easy. You use the soft knob to simply adjust to the desired slice thickness, and slide the zucchini over the stainless steel blade for nice even slices. We like the clear surface that shows slices accumulating below, and the little grippy slider also hides the blades from our kids prying fingers.

My mom got me one of these for my birthday and I don't know how I managed without it. It makes grating cheese or anything else so much easier than using a big awkward grater. It is made from stainless steel and works well with hard cheese, onions, citrus fruits, and ginger.
Electrolux is launching a revolutionary new oven called Inspiro, the first oven that automatically selects the right heating mode based on the contents of the oven. Rather than just measuring the air temperature with a thermometer and regulating it with a thermostat, the way a conventional oven operates, Inspiro uses sensors to calculate the precise combination of energy consumption and time needed to bring the food to the correct temperature. This is similar to the way cameras now automatically set aperture, exposure time and focus, depending on the light and what's in the frame.
How does it work? To cook a lamb joint, for example, select the category "roasting" via the touch control, then choose whether the joint should be rare, medium or well done. The oven indicates which level to put the tray on - in a cold oven. From that cold start, Inspiro calculates the energy consumption and time needed to raise the temperature of the meat to the desired level. That information is then combined with its database of professional cooking techniques to calculate what combination of heating modes is required (top, bottom, side, hot air, or grill) to ensure the desired result.

A powerful microwave you can load things in from the top? We're not crazy on the concept of lifting out of the microwave a uber hot dish of gyoza (we often make them in our microwave), but it looks cool. The But-On Koncept is the microwave design of the future with in the form of a simple and colorful microwave. The microwave includes the standard features like temperature control, a timer and removable inner lining that makes cleaning easy.

Circulon Elite 12-Inch Nonstick Hard-Anodized Deep Skillet with Glass Cover
After burning a few too many things in our skillet, we are in search of a new one. This looks like it might fit the bill. It is made from heavy-gauge hard anodized aluminum and has a nonstick surface. The interior has a "unique 'high/low' relaxed-wave technology that protects the skillet's nonstick surface--only a small portion of the 'high' area is exposed to the wear and tear of cooking, while the 'low' area remains untouched." It includes a glass lid and is oven safe to 400 degrees. In addition, the stainless steel handle has a silicone insert to make it easier to hold.
This is a cool idea. This pancake mold creates pancakes with hollow centers, so you can stack the pancakes and fill the hole with syrup or jam. Comes with a set of three in three sizes.
