Combining two types of appliances into one is becoming a trend. Sure counter-space is at a premium, but do we need these Frankenstein like devices cropping up everyday? I think so. I can't think of two devices more in need of each other. Microwave meet toaster - toaster meet microwave - now become ONE! This really will save time in the morning as both toast, and my hot oatmeal heat up to perfection. At just $139, and available at LG direct, we may just have to get this appliance for making Frankenstein breakfasts in the future.

The Cuisinart CleanWater countertop filtration system beats bottled water because it reduces contaminants that can alter taste and purity, and it's more environmentally friendly. Want draft beer at home? This system releases CO2 every time the tap is opened, so you get fresh, crisp beer every time. It is designed to be used with Heineken's DraughtKeg, and I'm not sure if you can use other kegs with it or not. DraughtKeg is designed to keep beer fresh for 30 days. The system has a cooling element that keeps the keg cold and fresh. The display gives the keg's volume, current and desired temperatures, and how many days the keg has been installed.

Review: Ziszor Personal Schredder - Protect Your Identity from the Kitchen

ziszor_personalshredder.jpg

We all do more than just cook in our kitchen. We often find ourselves opening lots of different mail in the kitchen, and then tossing the ones we don't like unschredded into the kitchen wastebasket. In this modern age of identity theft this is a very bad idea, and because of that products like Ziszor are coming to market.

IMG_5647.jpg
The packaging and design for the Ziszor is excellent.

Ziszor is a personal schredder that allows you to stop dumpster diving thieves by using a shredder in the kitchen. We've written several articles on this before, but Ziszor is small and handheld compared to a traditional shredder, thus taking up less space wherever you need to shred.

Breville BTA820XL Die-Cast 2-Slice Smart Toaster - Get Toasting

31GDpFqWpFL._AA280_.jpg

Looking for a toaster with all the smarts it needs to finally make your favorite bagel toasted to perfection? Housed in brushed die-cast metal, this two-slice toaster features an internal smart chip that automatically lowers bread or bagels into the toasting slots with a single touch and regulates the toasting time. The toaster also offers push-button controls for toast, a "bit more", bagel, defrost, and lift-and-look functions.

With the "a bit more" setting, bread automatically lowers for additional toasting time. The lift-and-look function automatically raises the bread carriage during toasting without canceling or resetting the cycle, which allows for viewing, and if necessary, canceling the browning cycle at any time. The display acts as a toasting progress indicator, counting down the time remaining in the toasting cycle. A beep indicates the end of the cycle.
