Trash Bag Cinch

cinch_brochure_thmb.jpg

This is a great idea. This trash bag cinch keeps trash bags secured to rim of the trash can and also works as an air freshener to freshen the air around the garbage can. The cinch is attached by adhesive to the trash can and then the top of the bag goes into the cinch. The replaceable lemon scented air freshener disk works for 30 days.

OXO  - Corkpull & Bottle Opener Set

3103000_3a_1.jpg

We've been using this OXO CorkPull and Bottle Opener Set for over two weeks, and wine opening has never been easier. The set combines two useful tools in an one set. The CorkPull fits right over the end of your wine bottle and with a very easy to use soft grip, you just turn and turn until the cork is out. Then you turn it to have it expel the wine cork. The Bottle Opener is also really well made - the cast steel ring pops off bottle caps and beer tops with ease. Also each opener can stand on its end, making it easy to leave where you last used it.

Electrochef All-In-One Kitchen Circa 1920 - Totally Retro Kitchen

electrochef.jpg

I've actually seen one of these kitchens at a camp growing up in Northern Maine. I was always in awe of it, and thought somehow the hoses carried food stuff into the little fridge as well. The Electrochef all-in-one kitchen from 1920 still feels as if it's from the future. It featured an adjustable height oven, four-burner stove and a small storage space hidden below (so I guess the food feeding tube was all in my head.)

Soft-Handle Microplane Zester Graters

I love my microplane grater. It makes grating cheese and zesting so easy. But mine is a boring black color. Now you can get them in a variety of fun colors. I like the orange one.

Presorvac Systems Marinater - Meat Marination Magic

31y697bEqFL._SL500_AA250_.jpg

This cool marinater has the pump built right into the top. The Presorvac Marinater is a state-of -the-art vacuum seal and patent pending cycling system that quickly and automatically boosts the flavor and enhances the texture of beef, poultry, fish, seafood, vegetables, fruits as well as other foods in minutes. The Presorvac Marinater cycle begins with the vacuum pump drawing most of the air out of the base to create a perfect seal. This is followed by the release of the seal to draw air and pressure back into the base. During the cycling process, the bottom of the base gently expands, stretching the fibers of food to enhance tenderization and full absorption of the marinade. The cycle repeats automatically for approximately five minutes before shutting off.

Stirr from uutensil - Keep Your Sauces, Soups, and Risotto from Sticking

full_429.jpg

We've had the pleasure over the past few weeks of using Stirr from uutensil. What seems like a gimic (come on - you can't watch your soup) has turned into a real treat when it comes to lunch time. We often eat lentil soup at lunch time, and prefer it over a hot stove to microwaving it with radiation. We also often get interrupted in the Kitchen Contraptions test kitchen, thus leading to burned on the bottom soup. That's where Stirr comes in - made with silicone feet on the bottom that vibrate thus making it turn and stir, Stirr is a stirring wonder. It's basically an automatic kitchen helper that comes with 3 settings, so no matter how thick the soup or sauce - Stirr gets the job done.

full_431.jpg

We love it - and think you should check it out for your stove top needs. Can you say easy risotto? We can now that we have Stirr.

MacGourmet for iPhone and iPod Touch

iPhone-Background.jpg

We love MacGourmet for our recipe Macbook in the Kitchen Contraptions test kitchen, and we've just gotten word a portable version is available for iPhone (we have 2) and iPod touch. You'll need a copy of MacGourmet to use it, but the App is free to use as long as you have MacGourmet. The big thing for us that's exciting - take our recipes with us to Whole Foods and not have to write it down, print it out, and have all the ingredients listed on our shopping list - right there on our iPhone or iPod touch. Awesome.

It allows you to sync your data with MacGourmet and the following goodness:

  • Carry your recipes
  • Carry your shopping lists
  • Build and modify shopping lists on the fly
  • Check off items as you add them to your cart
  • Carry your wine notes and cooking notes
  • Comes with over 200 recipes (great if you can't use MacGourmet or just want a nice collection of recipes for your iPhone)

Review: Adagio Teas triniTea Electric 32-Ounce Tea Maker

trinitea_review.jpg

Being new to the Gourmet Tea scene I was excited to finally get my hands on one of these products - especially the triniTea electric tea maker. Since I enjoy brewed ice tea year round I was wondering how much better this experience would be. The result totally surpassed my expectation of how good gourmet tea can be - especially loose leaf teas brewed with an electric tea maker.

For the most part the setup and assembly of the Adagio Teas triniTea Electric 32-Ounce Tea Maker is pretty simple. That is if you know how to assemble it. I was a little put off on how little information came with the product on how to assemble and operate it. There is literally one little pamphlet that comes with it and although it explains how to use it, it fails to associate a functional picture to support their explanation. But a few educated guesses later you will be off to making incredible tea!

lackingDirections.jpg

Note: On the box it there is a diagram that might help you match up the layout to the instructions printed on the pamphlet. In addition to that there is another picture that vaguely shows the 3 steps on how to make tea with this product. If only they told you to refer to the box on the pamphlet...too bad I threw it away.

It attaches directly to any pickle jar, so it will always be there in a pickle crisis.
