Portable Snail Cooking Device Clamps Onto Pots or Mugs and Heats Them Up

The portable snail cooking device isn't out yet, but we have to applaud Electrolux for creating a design competition that produces creative kitchen concepts for us to admire. Working just like a magnetic induction stove the portable snail can be placed on the side of a pot or pan to heat up the contents. Sensors would be able to recognize what type of food is being cooked, adjusting the temperature and time accordingly.

Best iPad Stands for Cooking in the Kitchen

We thought we'd do a round-up of the iPad stands after a recent visit to the Apple Store and a few other places that caught our attention for use in the kitchen. If you're using your iPad for recipes you'll need a stand. Having it on the counter is just not an option with flour, spills, and having it slide around. The first stand we look at is this stable aluminum a-frame design from Griffin.
The Griffin A-Frame Tabletop Stand for iPad features a non-slip rubber cradle accommodating Griffin's flexible and hard-shell cases and many others. It allows for easy access to iPad's dock connector for charging and syncing.

Jokari Pasta Basket

I can never get pasta servings right, but this takes the guesswork out of cooking pasta. The basket measures one serving of pasta and works with any type of pasta -- you can use the handle to measure long pasta. You poor the pasta into the basket, set the basket into boiling water, and lift it out when the pasta is done. Four baskets can fit into one pot, for more than one serving.

Review: Capresso H2O Pro Programmable Cordless 56-Ounce Water Kettle with Variable Temperature Control

We've been using the Capresso H20 Pro Programmable water kettle for the past 2 months, and we have to say it's perfect. The 56-ounce cordless electric kettle in stainless steel with polished chrome finish looks pretty amazing on our countertop, and the 360-degree swivel base has made the kettle easy to get on an off it's little perch.
If you haven't used a programmable kettle, then you don't know what good tea and other hot beverages can taste like. The illuminated digital display and push-button controls allow you to set programmable temperatures like keep-warm and extended-boil settings if you've got some funky water with too much chlorine to boil.
But the big thing here is the temperature on the handle. By knowing what temperature you have the water at, you can safely use the hot water for the right tea (see here for brewing guide). So the programmable feature of the tea kettle will let you keep the tea water warm at 110F to 190F - pretty amazing. There's also a auto shut-off and boil-dry protection for safety, along with a water-level window. And if that was not enough the there is a micro-filter spout to catch anything that might have ventured into your kettle.
We've simply enjoyed and loved this kettle since Capresso sent it to us to review, and we think you'll love it too and especially if you're a tea drinker.

Neato XV-11 All Floor Robotic Vacuum System

We think we've found the ultimate kitchen and household robot vacuum. The powerful XV-11 saves you time by automatically vacuuming your entire floor--even deep into corners and under furniture, and it features a Laser-based Room Positioning System that sees everything in the room. Why is this important? Well the Neato avoids bumping into walls and furniture, and learns about all the doorways in your home instead of relying on sensors you place like the Roomba. It also works on all types of surfaces like carpets, rugs, hardwood, laminates, tile, and stone.
Two more features which should come at no surprise are scheduled automatic cleanings while you're away via simple user interface, and the Neato automatically returns to the charging base when vacuuming is concluded. We've placed one of these on order for October, and hope to have a full review then.
