We tend to use a little olive oil in a pot on the top of the stove, but the problem with that is the kids never get to see the popcorn popping. When I was a kid we had one of these popcorn poppers you can see through, and I think the West Bend 82306 Stir Crazy 6-Quart Popcorn Popper hits the classic family popcorn popping mark.
West Bend has improved on the classic corn popper design by adding a motorized stirring rod which ensures that every single kernel pops, every time. In about five minutes, the Stir Crazy Popper produces up to 6 quarts of perfectly popped corn, using one tablespoon of oil per 1/4 cup corn. The plastic cover doubles as a serving bowl, so when the cycle is done, just flip it over to enjoy popcorn with the family or that special someone on the couch.

For cooking restaurant-quality fried foods at home, this simple-to-use deep fryer uses the same frying technology found in commercial fryers. Its Dual Zone technology creates a "cool zone" located beneath the heating element to prevent food from burning and to help reduce odor and keep oil clean. The unit's extra-large 3-pound food capacity provides ample space for evenly frying everything from delicious French fries and onion rings to mozzarella sticks or doughnuts.

We've just spent the last 3 weeks using the Zarafina Tea Maker suite. It's been a very interesting addition to our already large coffee and tea habit here at KitchenContraptions.com. What's surprising about the Zarafina Tea Maker is how consistent the cup of tea you brew can be if you have a tea brewing appliance like the Zarafina Tea Maker.
You get a serving tray, the main tea maker, the tea pot, two tea cups,
and some serving utensils.
What's different about the Zarafina tea maker? The Zarafina tea maker has a unique brewing chamber which allows you to observe the process, variable settings that allow you to control the strength, brewing time and temperature and a built in diffuser that keeps your tea free of leaves whether you are using tea bags or loose tea. It is designed distinctively to enrich your tea experience and give you a perfect consistent cup of tea every time.

As I have said before, I like my popcorn really greasy, but it isn't very healthy. If you are watching your weight, air popped popcorn can be a good snack. This air popper pops up to 18 cups in about 2 1/2 minutes. If you do want to add butter, the measuring cup on top is also a butter melter.

We use our microwave oven way more than we ever would imagine. There isn't a lot of cooking going on at dinner time, but at lunch we microwave tamales, riblets, and other microwave goodness. The kids also love the microwave, and we're pretty sure per capita our household is the chicken nugget king of the world. We like this Sharp microwave - it has 6 cook options, 6 reheat options, and 4 defrost options which should just about make it do anything you need. Minute Plus sets the oven at high with a single touch, and the clock is easy to read. This should also make a little higher end purchase option for those heading back to school.

Another ice cream machine. Nothing fancy, but making your own ice cream is a good summertime activity. This is a fully automatic machine that makes ice cream in 20 to 30 minutes. The mixing spatula supposedly quickly combines ingredients, and it has a feeder bowl for adding ingredients without interrupting the freezing process.
